Obituary of E. W. Templeman

Edward W. Templeman was born in Perry county, Ohio, in 1840 and died at his home in Winterset, Iowa, Oct. 26, 1910, aged 70 years, 9 months and 19 days.

He came west with his parents in 1856 at the age of 16 years and located at Eagleville, Mo.

He enlisted with Company D, 23d Missouri and in 1863 he re-enlisted and served until the close of the war. He fought in thirty-two skirmishes and sixteen hard fought battles.

He was married to Miss Anna Duncan at Eagleville, Mo., in 1869 and then came to Iowa living in Dallas county for a number of years, removing to Madison county in 1882 and to Winterset in 1901, where he resided until his death.

His family consists of the wife and five children all of whom are living to mourn his loss. He also leaves two sisters and three brothers.

He was converted and united with A. B. church at about eighteen years of age and after coming to Iowa united with the M. E. church and was a faithful member until his death which was caused by brights disease from which he has been a sufferer for the past year.

Mr. Templeman was one of our most highly respected citizens and his loss will be a sad blow to the community. The heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives.

The funeral occurred Wednesday afternoon from the M. E. church conducted by his pastor Rev. A. A. Walborn and interment was made in the Rock City cemetery.
