Services for Hazel Briney, 78, rural Orient, who died Feb. 12 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Marshall County on Nov. 2, 1910, she was the daughter of Charles and Grace Lane Shipton. She was married to Howard Briney on July 29, 1928 at Marshalltown and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Briney had lived around Orient and Macksburg since 1952 and was a member of the Wesley Chapel Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Rodger and wife Viola of Winterset; a brother, Howard of Allison, Iowa, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two infant brothers.
