Howard W. Briney, 94, of Winterset died Feb. 8, 2003, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 12) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & After Care in Winterset with Pastor Sandra Smith officiating. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.
Howard Briney was born April 26, 1908, to Otto E. and Ida (Wright) Briney of Alburnett. On July 29, 1928, he married Hazel I. Shipton. A resident of Madison County since 1952, Howard was a farmer and Angus cattleman.
He was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church of rural Macksburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Louise and Ella; and four brothers, Stan, Harold, Earl and Walter.
He is survived by a son, Rodger Briney of Winterset; special companion, Margie Underwood of Winterset; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Macksburg United Methodist Church.
