Alberta Cox, Winterset

Alberta Bessie Cox, 90, died Jan. 13, 2002, of a kidney ailment at West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Winterset.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 16) at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastors Jim Howland and Steve Koch officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Alberta Cox was born Dec. 30, 1911, in Madison County to Charles and Lois (Brittain) Clark. A 1931 graduate of Winterset High School, she married Wallace Cox on May 4, 1934, in Adel. Alberta, a homemaker, was a member of Crown Rebekah Lodge 360 and the First United Presbyterian Church, both in Winterset. She was a lifetime resident of Madison County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, an infant brother and a sister.

She is survived by a son, Kenneth Cox (wife Carol) of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Lola Johnson (husband Cliff) of Golden, Colo., and Delores Youngman (husband Herb) of Council Bluffs; seven grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset.
