Joe H. Utsler, Winterset

Joe H. Utsler, 89, of Winterset died of heart failure Sept. 10, 2000, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Joe Utsler was born May 1, 1911, in Madison County to Charles and Maud (Harrell) Utsler. His marriage to Anne Howard took place Jan. 9, 1933, in Bethany, Mo. He was engaged in farming for 54 years, retiring in 1978. Joe was member of Farm Bureau and the Farmers Coop.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a son-in-law.

He is survived by his wife; a daugher, Donna Deatsch of Iowa City; three sons, Larry Utsler (wife Micki) of Winterset, Russ Utsler (wife Jeannie) of Peru and Rex Utsler (wife Karen) of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Merle Utsler (wife Joanne) of Carlisle and Dick McCauley (wife Pat) of Las Vegas, Nev.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or Middle River Hospice, both of Winterset.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
