Monday Services For John Ussery

John A. Ussery of Rural Route 1, Winterset died Thursday, September 6, at his home at the age of 81. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Patterson Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating.

Graveside services by I.O.O.F. No. 136 were held at Mt. Pelier Cemetery near Patterson.

The son of S.K.D. and Sarah Jane Owens Ussery, he was born on April 28, 1898 at Mountain Grove, Mo. On July 27, 1946 he was married to Frances Garren at Adel, who survives him.

Mr. Ussery lived her for 54 years and was a farmer and school custodian at Patterson until his retirement in 1963. He was a member of the Patterson Methodist Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge.

Also surviving are a stepson, Earl Garren of Perry; two brothers, Pete of Fort Smith, Ark and Con of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Mamie Roberts of Mansfield, Mo., and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and seven sisters.
