Helen M. Peterson, 77, of Winterset died of cancer September 17, 2001, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Robert Barrick officiating. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery.
Helen Peterson was born March 21, 1924, to James and Jessie (Aikin) Braman of Lorimor. A 1941 graduate of Lorimor High School, she also was a graduate of the Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines. She had been a beautician at Grace's Beauty Shop in the mid 1940s. On April 4, 1948, she married Clyde F. Peterson in Winterset. Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset, the Democratic Women's Club, Pythian Sisters, TOPS, Colonial Guild and American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant sister and a brother.
She is survived by two daughters, Connie Weddle (husband John) of Hugo, Okla., and Rita McDonald (husband Robert) of Winterset; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
