Don M. Penn, Winterset

Services for Don M. Penn, 79, Winterset, who died May 7 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Tuesday, May 9 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Berry officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born at Araphoe, Okla., on Oct. 12, 1909, he was the son of Thomas and Esther Piatt Penn. On Oct. 8, 1933, he was married to Edna Lorentz in Des Moines.

Mr. Penn was street commissioner for Winterset 33 years. He also delivered hogs for the Bill Mitchell Swine Service. He spent most of his lifetime in Winterset and Madison County.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Phil and wife Barb of Des Moines; a daughter, Sharon Mitchell and husband Bill of Winterset; a brother, Dale of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, a brother and a sister.
