Well-Known Local Cattleman Stricken Suddenly in Heart Attack
Clarence T. Wambold, a widely known Winterset cattleman, died suddenly here Monday, Dec. 21, as rusult of a heart attack. He was 71 years of age.
Mr. Wambold had been a resident of Winterset since 1934. For many years he was associated in the operating of the Spring Valley Dairy in Winterset. After his retirement from that enterprise, he devoted himself to the breeding of purebred Angus cattle and had enjoyed unusual success in that field. He was active in numerous Angus association activities.
Mr. Wambold was a native of Greenfield, where he was born Jan. 24, 1888. He was married at Minneapolis, Minn., on Feb. 19, 1913, to the former Elsie M. Long.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Claire Wambold of Winterset; a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Knight of Marshalltown; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held this Wednesday morning from Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church in Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
