MRS. HAZEL BARRUS Services Held Here Saturday

Mrs. Hazel M. Barrus, 87, of Winterset died Thursday, April 19, 1979, at Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery with Rev. Byron Ayers officiating.

The daughter of Albert Thomas and Mary Margaret Davis Rees, she was born on May 1, 1891 at Winterset. On February 25, 1912, she was married to Charles A. Barrus, who preceded her in death, at Winterset.

She was a lifelong resident of Winterset and was a member of the First United Methodist Church here. She was also a Temple Mother of Pythain Sisters, of which she was a member for 50 years, and was a member of the Ruth Circle at the Methodist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Dale Barrus of Tucson, Ariz., and Gene Barrus and Charles Barrus, Jr. both of Cody, Wyo.; four daughters, Ruth Heimke of Greeley, Colo., Dorothy Allgeyer of Winterset, Marjorie Warren of Des Moines and Betty Southwick of Colorado City, Colo.; a brother, Albert Rees of Sumner, Iowa; a niece, Mary Jane Benoit of Winterset; 29 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two daughters, Mary Anne Bond and Edna O'Farrell, and a sister, Edna Childers.
