Funeral Held For Mary Spencer

Funeral services for Mary Jane Spencer, a long-time resident of Lee township, were held last Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Methodist church in Booneville.

Mrs. Spencer died Oct. 26, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was 82 years of age.

A daughter of Howard and Nancy Houston Misner, she was born Aug. 2, 1895, on a farm near Cumming in Warren county. She grew up in the Cumming and St. Patrick's community.

She was married to Ira Spencer on Dec. 25, 1916 at Van Meter. Their married life was spent farming near Cumming and Booneville.

Mrs. Spencer was an active member of the Cumming Ladies Aid, Rebecca Lodge of Booneville, Farm Bureau Women, Happy Hour Club, Larken Club and the Booneville Church Women's Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and a brother.

Surviving are two daughter, Lillian Ulloa of Fullerton, California and Mary Lou Marquardt of rural Booneville; a sister, Esther Baker of Des Moines; and eight grandchildren.

Burial was in the Booneville cemetery.
