Services for Grace Gorrell Cross, 87, Winterset, who died March 27, 1986, at the Winterset Care Center North where she resided, were held Monday, March 31, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Lautt and the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Madison County on April 17, 1898, she was the daughter of Alanson and Eva Gorrell Chase.

A homemaker, she lived in Denver from 1954 to 1972 and most of the rest of her lifetime was spent in Madison County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge and the Pythian Sisters and a life member of the W.S.C.S.

On Feb. 18, 1919, she was married to Stanley L. Shaw in Madison County. He died May 25, 1939. She later married William D. Cross in 1954. He died in 1972.

Survivors include a son, Gene Shaw of Glenwood; a daughter, Marguerite Powers of Winterset; a brother, Harold Chase of Modesto, Calif.; a sister, Pearl Shaw of Winterset; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and six sisters.
