Robert H. Spencer, 79, of Peru died from complications of a stroke Sept. 30, 2000, at Integrated Health Services in Winterset.
Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with the Rev. Arthur Arnett officiating. Burial was at East Peru Cemetery.
Robert Spencer was born Jan 20, 1921, to Tommy and Bradie (Stoneman) Spencer of East Peru. He married Irene Datwyler on Sept. 7, 1950 in Truro. A farmer, he also had worked for the Natural Gas Pipeline Company as a service technician. Robert was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Navy and the United States Marines.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Zickefoose (husband Ernest Sr.) of Yale and Lorene Swanson (husband Jack) of West Des Moines; a son, Charles Spencer (wife Millie) of Chicago, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.
