DOROTHY McDOWELL, Peru

Services for Dorothy McDowell, 76, rural Peru, who died July 10, 1987, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, were held Monday, July 13, at the Peru Methodist Church with the Rev. Gayle V. Strickler officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Madison County on February 21, 1911, she was the daughter of John and Mary Hircock Beem. On August 10, 1932, she was married to Jess T. "Bud" McDowell at Kansas City, Missouri.

She lived most of her lifetime in Madison County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Ted and wife Audrey of Lorimor and Terry and wife Ruth of Lorimor; sisters, Mary Alexander of Des Moines, Lenore Ford of Winterset and Lorraine Jamison of Winterset; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a brother and two sisters.
