Services for W. C. Songer, 79, Winterset, who died Dec. 6 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held Dec. 8 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born at Alvin Ill., March 27, 1905, he was the son of William and Cora Malcom Songer. On Nov. 9, 1927, he married Queen Boone at Hurron, S.D.
Mr. Songer was a retired farmer and had lived in this area since 1951. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Everett of Bouton, Harold of Prole, Lyle of Escodido, Calif., and LeRoy of Winterset; daughter, Marilyn Barrington of Lamar, Colo., Shirley McMahan of Berthoud, Colo., and Vera Mur of Des Moines; a brother, Clarence of Artesian, S.D.; sister, Mabel Jones and Mildred Emmett, both of Artesian, 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
