MARIE HONNOLD DIES AT 87 YEARS

Native of Pella, Had Lived 40 Years in Lorimor Area

Mrs. Marie Honnold of Lorimor died at a nursing home in Winterset Sunday, April 23. She was 87 years of age.

Mrs. Honnold had been a resident of Madison and Union counties for 40 years. She was the former Marie DeReus, daughter of Arie and Grietje DeReus and was born at Pella, Jan 1, 1874.

She was married at Monroe on Sept. 9, 1894, to William J. Honnold. His death occurred in 1946.

She was a member of the Lorimor Christian church, serving in the Christian Aid society of the church.

In addition to her husband, two sons, Jesse and Rex Honnold, and a daughter, Ethel Honnold, preceded her in death.

Surviving are eight children, Mrs. Grace Waring of Lorimor, Vern Honnold of Winterset, Mrs. Leona Porter of Adel, Mrs. Esther Wheeler of Lorimor, Ivan Honnold of Des Moines, Mrs. Natalie Burd of Winterset, Willis Honnold of Des Moines, and John Honnold of Grimes.

She also leaves 26 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, and two brothers, Will DeReus of Denver and Marinus DeReus of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Robert A. Owens and Phoebe Woerner. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
