William Elton Woody, 60, Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Winterset, died of cancer at his home. Services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at McLarens Resthaven Funeral Chapel in Des Moines and burial was at Resthaven Cemetery.
A son of Mary Alice Koser and Elton H. Woody, he was born in Winterset on June 12, 1924.
During World War II, he was captured by the Germans, and later escaped.
Mr. Woody was born in Winterset and was a World War II veteran. He was chief chemist for Lone Star Industries at Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice; daughters, Mary Alice of Madison Wis., Nancy Russell of Fort Worth, Texas, and Nina Elizabeth of Cape Girardeau; and two grandchildren.
