GERALD WILLIAMS, Winterset

Gerald E. Williams, 79, of Winterset, died April 22, 2004, of cancer, at his home.

A memorial service was held Monday, April 26, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with Pastor Joan White officiating.

Gerald Williams was born Aug. 27, 1924, to Albert G. and Tessie (Trisler) Williams of Weldon. On April 10, 1944, he married Hazel Scott in Osceola. Following active duty in the United States Army during World War II, Gerald worked as a mechanic for the Iowa Department of Transportation, retiring after 27 years of service. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset, American Legion Post 184 in Winterset and V.F.W. Post 9399 in Apache Junction, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel, of Winterset; two sons, Edward H. Williams, of Dearborn, Mich., and Robert K. Williams of Norwalk; one daughter, Linda Eckles of Winterset; a sister, Mary Murray of Cedar Rapids; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.

A memorial service was held April 26 at the First Christian Church of Winterset for Gerald E. Williams, 79, who died of cancer April 22, 2004, at his home in Winterset. Pastor Joan White officiated the service. Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare of Winterset was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Middle River Hospice in Winterset.

Mr. Brown, the son of Albert G. and Tessie Trisler Williams, was born Aug. 27, 1924 in Weldon. He married Hazel Scott on April 10, 1944, in Osceola. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II Mr. Williams worked as a mechanic for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 27 years.

Mr. Williams was a member of the First Christian Church of Winterset, American Legion Post No. 184 of Winterset and VFW Post No. 9399 of Apache Junction, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, two sons, Edward H. Williams and his wife, Marilyn Williams, of Dearborn, Mich. and Robert K. Williams and his wife, Donna Williams, of Norwalk, a daughter, Linda Eckles and her husband, Dennis Eckles, of Winterset, a sister, Mary Murray of Cedar Rapids, seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
