Irene R. Wright, 88, of Davenport died Jan. 17, 2000, at Genesis Medical Center - West Campus, Davenport.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport. Burial was Thursday, Jan. 20, at Winterset Cemetery.
Irene Wright was born Aug. 22, 1911, to Thomas and Elizabeth Gillespie of Patterson. She married Hugh Wright in 1936 in Winterset. Mr. Wright died in 1944.
Irene retired in 1976 as a secretary with the former Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Previously, she had been employed for 20 years at Phoenix Mutual Life Company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and two sisters. She is survived by two brothers, Leo Gillespie of Winterset and John Gillespie of Lancaster, Calif.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport.
