Mrs. Wm. Smith died at her home in Douglas township Tuesday, Feb. 5th, 1901, at the age of 61 years.

The funeral was conducted at the home by Rev. Follansbee, Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was the mother of Mrs. Buel Adams and of Mrs. Nancy Clark, both of whom as well as the husband survive her.

She was born in Ireland and came to America when five years of age. She and her husband, who was known as "Spinner" Smith came to Winterset in an early day and were employed in the woolen mills.

Mrs. William Smith died at her home near the Stringtown school house in Douglas township on Tuesday after a short illness from la grippe and pneumonia. Burial services were held from the home on Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Fallansbee. Mrs. Smith was quite an old settler having resided in this county since 1861.

Died, in Douglas township, Tuesday morning February 5, Mrs. William Smith, aged sixty-one years. She was born in Antrim, Ireland and came to America when five years of age. She and her husband came to Madison county thirty years ago. Mrs. Beulah Adams and Mrs. Mamie Clark, of Winterset are her daughters.

Her funeral was held at the residence on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. L. E. Follansbee preached the sermon. She was buried in the McDonald cemetery.
