TRURO SERVICE FOR ART PURVIS

Arthur L. Purvis, son of Ella and Chester Purvis was born near West Liberty, Iowa, Nov. 17, 1878, and died May 28th at Memorial Hospital at the age of 89 years.

He moved to Madison county with his parents at the age of eight, and was a resident of Ohio township in Madison county the rest of his life, except one year spent in Washington, Iowa.

On June 27, 1900 he was united in marriage to Nettie Mease and they lived all of their life in Truro where he was manager of the Union State Bank office for 29 years.

He joined the Oak Run Friends Church at the age of ten and attended the Methodist Church at Truro after moving to that community 46 years ago. He was a member of Ivy Lodge 483 and Ivy Chapter of Easter Star 533. He was Worthy Patron of Eastern Star nine years and Town Treasurer for 21 years.

He is survived by his wife Nettie, and one sister, Mrs. Blanche Carver of Wesley Acres in Des Moines.

Services were held Friday, May 31, at the Methodist church in Truro at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Hempenius conducting the services.

Arthur moved to Madison county with his parents at the age of 8, and was a resident of Ohio township in Madison county the rest of his life except one year spent in Washington, Iowa.
