Dorothy Peer, Earlham

Dorothy Darlene Peer, 89, of Earlham, died June 8, 2003, at her home.

Graveside services were held Saturday, June 12 at the Earlham Cemetery with Pastor Linda Burnett officiating.

Dorothy Peer was born Feb. 26, 1915, to Clarence and Caroline (Brown) Longenecker of Arispe. She was raised near Winterset, graduating from Winterset High School in 1932. On Feb. 1, 1942, she married Claude Peer of Winterset. Dorothy worked in the Madison County Courthouse while her husband served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his return, he opened a law office in Earlham, and Dorothy worked as his secretary until they retired some 50 years later.

She was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Peer of Suwanee, Ga.; and one grandson, one stepgrandson and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter, Earlham and Redfield.
