MRS. A. BLOOMQUIST OF WINTERSET DIES

Funeral Rites Held Monday With Burial at Penn Center

Mrs. Adelia Bloomquist of Winterset died at a nursing home here Thursday, Dec. 14 at the age of 81 years.

Mrs. Bloomquist had lived 64 years of her life in Madison County. She was the former Adelia Speer, daughter of Andrew and Nancy Evans Speer, and was born in Jackson township, Feb. 16, 1880.

As a young woman she served as a school teacher. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge at Earlham, and a life-time member of the American Legion auxiliary, of which she was a Gold Star mother. Her church membership was at Early Chapel.

She was married Feb. 17, 1904, to August Bloomquist. He preceded her in death in 1952.

In addition to her life in Madison county, she spent five years in Oklahoma, and 12 years in Adair county.

She leaves one son, Carl Bloomquist of Earlham; seven daughters, Mrs. Dale Iams of Murray, Mrs. Sidney Hartman of Winterset, Mrs. Donald Rehard of Winterset, Geraldine Bloomquist of Winterset, Mrs. Leo Kirwin of Longview, Wash., Mrs. Claude Beaman of Dexter, and Mrs. Winifred Bly of Adel. Two sons preceded her in death. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Mark of Winterset and Mrs. Mable Bricker of Earlham.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Robert L. Lehmann. Burial was made in Penn Center cemetery.
