Earl Mobley, Nebraska

Earl D. Mobley, 55, of Sergeant Bluff, Neb., died Oct. 27, 1995 at an Omaha hospital following a long illness. Funeral services were Oct. 31 at Morningside Reformed Church with Dr. Louis Lotz officiating. Burial was at the Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 8, 1939 in Winterset and attended Lorimor schools. He married Shirley Stowell Sept. 2, 1961 in Winterset. He had been a livestock extension specialist and was well-known throughout the four-state area as a beef, cattle, swine and sheep judge at various county and state fairs. He received the university Extension Outstanding Educator Award in 1979 and was the recipient of the Iowa Honorary Master Pork Producer Award in 1980. He also received the National Association of County Agriculture Agents Distinguished Service Award in 1983 and the State Livestock Extension Educator Award in 1985. He was a member of the Morningside Reformed Church where he was a former elder and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the American Society of Animal Science and was a former member of the Kiwanis Club.

He was preceded death by his father, Everett Mobley and one son who died at birth.

Surviving relatives include his wife; one son, Kevin Mobley and wife Brenda of Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter Kristi Rathie and husband Tom of Lincoln, Neb.; his mother, Elva B. Mobley of Winterset; and four grandchildren.

A memorial to be designated at a later date, has been established in his memory.
