Wednesday, April 17, 1940WYMAN WILSON OF AMES DIES AT IOWA CITY
Funeral services for Wyman D. Wilson, young former Winterset resident, who died Monday at Iowa City, were to be held at Ames Wednesday, and burial was to be made in the Zion cemetery in this county.
The young man was 24 years of age. He was the son of Rollie J. Wilson, now of Ames, but formerly of this community. The family moved from here more than 10 years ago. He had been ill with a rare malady since September.
He is survived by his father, his foster mother, and a brother, Leon Wilson, of Los Angeles, Cal. His mother died in 1918.

Wyman DeWitt Wilson, son of Rollie John and Georgia Estella Wilson, was born July 30, 1916, near Hebron in Adair county, Iowa, and departed this life April 18, 1940 at the age of 23 years, after an extended illness.
Wyman’s mother passed away July 26, 1918, when Wyman was two years old. His aunt, Mrs. Maud Huston of Winterset, took over his care until 1920, when he welcomed his stepmother, Lillian Petzoldt Wilson, whom he affectionately called “Mom”.
He attended the grade schools in Winterset and moved to Ames with his parents in 1930, where he finished high school in 1935. He was a junior student in forestry at Iowa State college, and a member of the Forestry Club and Intramural staff.
When Wyman was a small boy, he became a member of the Christian church in Winterset. When coming to Ames he united with the Congregational church.
He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie J. Wilson of Ames, one brother, and sister-in –law, Mr. and Mrs. Leon K. Wilson, and one nephew, Donald, all of Long Beach, Cal., and a host of relatives and friends.
