John Edward Kordick, 71 year old Scott township farmer, died at his home Tuesday morning. The death ended three years of ill health for the well-known Madison county man.
Mr. Kordick had lived in Madison county the past 15 years, coming here from near Bridgewater. He was born May 14, 1862, in Chudiwa, Austria, and came to the United States with his parents three years later. The family settled in Illinois, but in 1881 moved to a farm north of Bridgewater.
In 1889 he was married to Miss Anna M. Reis of Bridgewater, who preceded him in death 12 years ago. For 12 years he was in business in Bridgewater.
Mr. Kordick is survived by three children, Leo, Albert and Agnes, and nine grandchildren, all of near Winterset, and four brothers, Joseph and Peter of Massena, and Anton and Charles of Bridgewater.
Funeral services were to be held at the St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Winterset Thursday at 9 a. m. Burial was to be made at Bridgewater.

John E. Kordick, 71, well known farmer who lived south of Winterset, died at his home Tuesday morning at nine o’clock following three years of ill health.
Mr. Kordick was born in Chudiwa, Austria, May 14, 1862, coming to Illinois when he was three years old. In 1881 he moved to a farm north of Bridgewater, Iowa. He was in business in Bridgewater twelve years and in 1910 moved to a farm west of there until 1918 when he came to Madison county to the farm near Winterset.
He was married to Anna M. Reis of Bridgewater May 7, 1889. Of their four children three are now living Albert, Agnes and Leo Kordick, a son dying at the age of four. Mrs. Kordick died in 1921. Nine grandchildren also survive as do his brothers Joseph and peter of Massena, and Anton and Charles Kordick of Bridgewater.
Requiem mass will be said at St. Joseph’s church in Winterset this morning, Thursday, at nine o’clock by the Rev. T. P. O’Leary of Greenfield; burial will be at Bridgewater.
