WILLIAM RODERICK KENT, Winterset

Services for William Roderick Kent, 79, a lifetime resident of Winterset, who died Dec. 8, 1983, at his home, were held Saturday, Dec. 10, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Byron Ayers and Charlie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born Feb. 6, 1904, in Winterset, he was the son of Harry and Mary Roderick Kent. He attended schools here and graduated from Winterset High School. He attened Iowa State University and was a member of the Odd Fellows (IOOF) and the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Kent had been a dairy farmer from 1939 to 1951 and a paper hanger and painter from 1928 to 1939. He later worked for Triple F Feeds as a salesman, retiring in 1968.

He was married to Elzara Kauble Aug. 12, 1928, in Redding, Iowa. She survives along with a son, Roderick Kauble Kent of Des Moines, daughters, Kay (Mrs. Ted) Whalert of Redfield, and ViEve (Mrs. Herb) Kirby of Randolph, N.J.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and an infant sister.
