PEARL EMERSON Dies at 83

Mrs. A. E. Emerson of Winterset, a life-long resident of Madison County, died Thursday, February 1, 1973, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She was 83 years of age.

Mrs. Emerson was the former Pearl Estella Silliman, daughter of Charles and Mary Moore Silliman. She was born at Peru on February 17, 1889. She was married June 24, 1908 at Winterset to Arnie E. Emerson. They lived on a farm near Peru until 1939 when they moved to Winterset. Mr. Emerson's death occurred in 1968.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Pythian Sisters.

Mrs. Emerson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Deremiah of Des Moines and Mrs. Hazel Baker of Lorimor; a son, Martin Emerson of Creston; six grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, Lonnie Silliman of Winterset.

Two of her sons, Glenn and Guy Emerson, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the First United Methodist Church in Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Newton Coughenour. Burial was made in the Peru Cemetery.
