Kenneth Snider, Kiron, Iowa

Funeral services for Kenneth Snider, were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, at the First Baptist Church in Kiron, Iowa, with the Rev. Larry W. Odle officiating. Interment was in the Kiron, Cemetery.

Kenneth C. Snider was born on a farm in Madison County, near St. Charles, November 19, 1938, the son of Carol T. and Margaret Swartzland Snider. He was raised in Madison County where he received his education in the rural schools, at St. Charles, and was graduated from the Winterset High School with the Class of 1957. Following his graduation he was employed with the Pepsi Company.

On March 15, 1958, Kenneth was united in marriage with Patricia Duff at the First Christian church in Winterset. They made their home in Winterset where Kenneth continued his employment with Pepsi and later with John Deere in Winterset. For twenty five years he managed Farmer's Co-ops in Williams, Kamrar, Kiron and Ida Grove, Iowa. The Snyders (Sniders) moved to Kiron in 1971 where he had since resided and currently owned the Otter Creek Trucking Firm.

Kenneth suffered an apparent heart attack at his home in Kiron, Saturday evening, June 3 and died a short time later at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 50 years.

Kenneth was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset and attended the First Baptist Church in Kiron. He was active in the communities in which he lived having served on the Kamrar Rescue Squad while living there. He had served as Mayor of Kiron, was a former fire chief of the Kiron Fire Department and currently a member of that group, and was a member of the Kiron Community Club.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Snider of Kiron, four daughters and their husbands, Rae and Brian Soellner of Galva, Iowa, Shelly and Kevin Pope of Kiron, Darcie and Dale Larson of Kiron, and Kari Snider at home; three grandsons, his father and step-mother, Carol and Hazel Snider of Winterset, his mother-in-law, Wanda Duff of Winterset; and two strep-brothers, Jim Mewhirter of Van Nuys, California, and Mike Mewhirter and his wife, Jacquie of Monte Vista, Colorado.
