Ruby Fern Harris, 88, of Winterset died of respiratory failure Jan. 20, 2002 at her home.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Jan. 23) at 10:30 a.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with the Rev. Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Ruby Harris was born July 10, 1913, in Braddyville. She graduated from Clarinda High School and then attended Simpson College where she received her teaching degree. On Oct. 18, 1941, she married Francis Harris in Yorktown. Ruby was an elementary school teacher for 37 years, teaching in Panora and Winterset. A resident of Winterset for the past 28 years, she was member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, of which she was president for eight years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter.
She is survived by a son-in-law, Blair Lawson of Indianola; and three foster brothers, Charles Mier of Clarinda, Paul Mier of Essex and Willey Mier of St. Joseph, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.
