Virginia A. Monaghan of Villa West Care Center in Winterset died Thursday, September 13, 1979, at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 91.
The daughter of Charles and Ellen Rogan Allgeyer, she was born on June 10, 1888 in Madison County. She was married to James Patrick Monaghan on November 24, 1915 in Winterset.
From the time of her marriage until 1972, Mrs Monaghan lived on the same Madison County farm. She was the first patient at Villa West. Mrs. Monaghan was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Joseph's Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and a sister. A rosary was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, September 16, at Collins Funeral Home, and funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 17, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery with Father Albert H. Wilwerding officiating.
