1965HAZEL PICKERING DIES AT 47 YEARS
Had Operated Beauty Shop In This Community for Many Years
Mrs. Roy Pickering, a well-known Winterset business woman for many years, died Sunday, June 20, after a two month illness. Her death occurred at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 47 years of age.
Mrs. Pickering had operated Hazel's Beauty shop in Winterset for many years.
She was a native of Decatur county, where she was born July 8, 1917. She was the former Hazel Violet Moorman, daughter of Homer and Minnie Hullinger Moorman.
She was married at Kahoka, Mo., on April 9, 1939, to Roy Pickering. They moved to Winterset that year, and her home had been here since that time.
She was member of the First Christian church of Winterset, and long had taken an active part in the affairs of this comunity.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Marvin D. Pickering and a daughter, Sue Anne Pickering, both at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Moorman of Pleasanton; two brothers, Archie Moorman of St. Charles and Virgil Moorman of Indiana; and two sisters, Mrs. John Zachu of Hammond, Ind., and Mrs. Fern LaFollette of Oregon.
Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. this Wednesday from the First Christian church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Willilam E. Bowles. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
