Velma Bowyer, Council Bluffs

Velma J. Bowyer, 95, of Council Bluffs, died of complications of diabetes on Feb. 2, 1997 at the Griswold Care Center. Funeral services will be Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. until services begin.

She was born in Manson on Nov. 25, 1901 to William Bush and Mary C. (Anderson) Wilson. She married O. J. "Pug" Bowyer on May 27, 1924 at Laurens. She was a homemaker and a resident of Winterset for 60 years. She had spent the last few years in Council Bluffs with her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, and one sister.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Doris Carlton and husband Marvin of Orange, Calif.; and Marcella Field of Council Bluffs; two sisters, Jenny Claman and Eva Claman, both of Manson; and two grandchildren.
