O. J. "Pug" Bowyer, Winterset

Services for O. J. "Pug" Bowyer, 88, Winterset, who died April 19 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, will be held Thursday, April 21, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Doris Kinton officiating. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born on Sept. 28, 1899 at Winfield, West Va., he was the son of John and Laura Settles Bowyer. He was a retired shovel operator for Penn Dixie Cement Co.

Mr. Bowyer was married to Velma J. Wilson at Laurens, Iowa on May 27, 1924. He was a resident here for 52 years, coming from Gilmore City, Iowa. He was a life member of the AFL-CIO, Local 258 of the United Cement, Lime and Gypsum Workers International Union.

Survivors include his; daughters, Doris Carlton of Orange, Calif., and Marcella Field of Council Bluffs; a brother, Paul of Elma, Wash.; sisters, Edith Strait of Gilmore City and Mabel Cottrell of Ft. Dodge; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
