Katie Percy Dead at 87

Katie M. Percy, a housewife in Madison County for most of the last 50 years, died Monday, July 30, 1973 at the home of her daughter near Winterset. She was 87 years of age.

Mrs. Percy was born May 15, 1886 in Rising City, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Margaret Fry Snapp. She was married to Frank B. Percy on February 22, 1906 in Dexter, Iowa.

Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Mrs. Percy was active in church circles, W.C.T.U. and W.W. Club.

Surviving Mrs. Percy are three sons: Loren of Burbank, California, Glenn of Salem, Oregon; and Merle of Dexter; and two daughters; Mrs. Helen Callison of rural Winterset; and Mrs. Fern Doyle of Des Moines.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Percy was preceded in death by her husband.

Funeral services for Mrs. Percy were conducted Thursday, August 2 at 1:30 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Winterset, Dr. Paul Hann presiding. Burial was made at the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter.
