RAY MILLS OF WINTERSET DIES

Well-Known Resident of This Community Was 71 Years Of Age

Ray Mills, Winterset business man for many years and member of a prominent family here, died last Friday, Nov. 15, at his home in Winterset. He was 71 years of age.

Mr. Mills was a resident of this community practically all his life. He was born in Winterset Feb. 21, 1892, a son of Charles A. and Lora Brinson Mills.

For many years he was engaged in the automobile business in Winterset as a partner in the Mills Motor company. Later he operated the west side hardware store here.

He was active in the Masonic lodge, and the Eastern Star, of which he was a past patron. He was a member of the First Christian church of Winterset.

Mr. Mills was married Nov. 12, 1916 in Des Moines, to Katherine Ellington, who survives him. He also leaves two sons, Ellington Mills of Norwalk and William Mills of North Whittier Calif. In addition there are nine grandchildren, Jo Ann, Jeanne, Mark, Marilyn and Paul Mills of Norwalk and Linda Jeffrey Alan, Ann Elizabeth and Kirk Clements Mills of North Whittier, California; two brothers, Ralph O. Mills and Charles Mills of Winterset; and a sister, Mrs. Alice Miller of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Wilson Funeral home in charge of the Rev. Robert Owens, pastor of the First Christian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with Masonic ritual at the graveside.
