Gladys Benoit, Winterset

Services for Gladys Benoit, 81, Winterset, who died March 14 at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center, were held March 18 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Newton Coughenour officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born Aug. 14, 1904, in Dallas County, she was the daughter of William and Lena Snyder Spencer. She had lived here 53 years, coming from Gilbert City. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Crown Rebekah Lodge No. 360, the Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, Cozy Club and United Methodist Women.

She was married to Leo Benoit at Rolfe, Iowa on Oct. 22, 1921.

Survivors include sons, Robert and Jack, both of Winterset; a brother, Clarence Spencer of Gilmore City; and five grandchildren, Nanette Till, Spence Benoit, Lance Benoit, Tricia Benoit and Tami Benoit.She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and a sister.
