Leo Benoit, a long-time Winterset resident and well-known farmer and businessman, died Friday, Nov. 6, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was 80 years old.
Born on Jan. 19, 1901 in Terra Junction, Ia., he was the son of John and Alice Loehr Benoit.
On Oct. 22, 1921, he married Gladys Spencer in Rolfe, Ia. The Benoits moved to Winterset about 50 years ago, coming from the Gilmore City and Humbolt area.
Mr. Benoit was preceded in death by his parents and two brother, Adolph and Clyde.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; two sons, Robert and Jack of Winterset; a sister, Marie Bay of Dixon, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 9, at Collins Funeral Home, Rev. Byron Ayers officiating.
Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
