Funeral services for David Montaigne Griswold, D.V.M., were held Monday afternoon, August 27, from the First United Presbyterian church in Winterset. Dr. Griswold died August 25 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was 69 years of age.
A son of Glen and Hannah Jenkins Griswold, he was born December 8, 1920 near Dexter.
He was a lifelong resident of Madison County, and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He was a self-employed veterinarian in Winterset for many years, retiring in 1974.
He was married to Doris Hollingsworth on June 12, 1945. She preceded him in death on May 20, 1989. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Misner.
Surviving are two sons, David Griswold III of Macksburg, and Don Scott Griswold of Iowa City; and three grandchildren, Ross Griswold, of Macksburg, and Emily and Michael Griswold of Iowa City.
Officiating at the funeral service was the Rev. David Bauer, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Penn Center cemetery south of Dexter.
Memorials were to the First United Presbyterian Church.
