Kenneth Holliday, Winterset

Kenneth Dwight Holliday, 77, of Winterset died of cardiac arrest July 18, 2001, at his residence.

A memorial service was held Monday, July 23, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor John Shaull officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery with military rites performed by American Legion Post 184 and V.F.W. Post 8142, both of Winterset.

Kenneth Holliday was born Nov. 12, 1923, to Roy and Oneta (Pierce) Holliday of Chariton. He married Alberta Koehler on Feb. 21, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He moved to Winterset in 1948 where he owned and operated Holliday's Candy Kitchen until 1968. Kenneth and his wife then moved to Nampa, Idaho, to operate a candy kitchen there. He retired in 1985 and moved back to Winterset in 1999. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of V.F.W. Post 8142 in Winterset.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a son.

He is survived by his wife, Alberta, of Winterset; two sons, Randy Holliday (wife Debbie) of Denver, Colo., and Rusty Holliday (wife Sheri) of Winterset; a daughter, Janet Palmeri (husband Tom) of Nampa, Idaho.; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Holliday of Denver, Colo.; a brother, Dwayne Holliday of Nampa, Idaho; a sister, Margaret Ford of Nampa, Idaho; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
