D. HOLLINGSWORTH DIES AT 88 YEARS

Life-Long Farmer in This Community Succumbs at Memorial Hospital

Dennis E. Hollingsworth, well-known Madison county farmer and life-long resident of the county, died Sunday, March 24, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 88 years of age, and had been a patient at the hospital for two years.

Mr. Hollingsworth was born in Scott township Dec. 18, 1874, a son of Nimrod B. and Evaline Hiatt Hollingsworth. He attended Iowa State college in Ames, graduating with the class of 1899. His active life was spent in farming.

He was married May 26, 1909, to Bessie J. Lorimor. They lived in the Zion neighborhood of Scott township until 1923, when they moved into Winterset. Mrs. Hollingsworth's death occurred in 1945.

Surviving are a son, Bernard Hollingsworth of Patterson and four daughters, Mrs. Helen Anderson of Des Moines, Mrs. Ray Conley of Winterset, Mrs. Emil Norberg of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. David Griswold of Winterset. He also leaves eight grandchildren, Kathy and Eric Norberg of Kansas City, Dennis Conley, Mark, Barbara and Paul Hollingsworth and Dave and Don Griswold, all of this community.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John E. Fink. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
