Services for Clarence Howell, 83, Winterset, who died Feb. 4, 1988, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center, were held Saturday, Feb. 6, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born in Madison County on Sept. 24, 1904, he was the son of Charles and Sadie Lovelace Howell. He was married to Nettie Thrailkill on Dec. 15, 1926 at Dexter.
A farmer, Mr. Howell was a lifetime resident and a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Farm Bureau. He had retired 10 years ago.
Survivors include sons, Robert of Winterset and Ronald of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Betty Dalton of Iowa City; a brother, Aaron of Winterset; a sister, Blanche Hoeness of Winterset; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
