Charles Irvin Howell, 77, of Santa Rosa, Calif.. died of cancer July 4, 1996 at the Santa Rosa Hospital. Memorial services were held July 9 at the Santa Rosa Memorial Park.
He was born on May 11, 1919, in Winterset. He was a 1936 graduate of Winterset High School. He married Deanne Silliman on July 3, 1939. He lived in California for 57 years where he owned and operated a general store in Glen Ellen until retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Surviving relatives include one daughter, Bonnie Hamlin and husband Roy; two sisters, Annabelle Garrett of Bellevue, Wash., and May Jean Clark of Winterset; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
