Nelson Bond, Earlham

Nelson O. Bond, 81, Earlham, died March 14, 1997, of heart failure at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were Tuesday, March 18, 1997, at the Kuhn Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Ray Martin officiated the service and burial was in the Earlham Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 11, 1915, in rural Madison County, the son of William A. and Olive R. (Smith) Bond. He attended Webster Country School in rural Madison County as well as one year of high school in Winterset. He married Kathlyn Eivins on May 16, 1937, in Creston. He operated heavy equipment and worked for the Earlham Elevator prior to his retirement in 1965.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three sisters.

Surviving relatives include a son, William Bond and wife Dorothy of Earlham; a daughter, Dixie Bond of Solon; a sister, Fern Kerns of Hawkeye; two grandchildren and a great grandchild.
