Olive Bond Services Held

Funeral services for Olive E. Bond, a near centenarian, were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9 from the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

Mrs. Bond died at Madison County Memorial Hospital on Feb. 6, at the age of 99 years, 11 months and 26 days.

A life-long resident of Madison county, she was born Feb. 10, 1881, the daughter of Orice Hoadley Smith and Eliza Pizel.

On April 4, 1900, she was married to W. A. Bond. He preceded her in death in July of 1940.

She was also preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters, a daughter, Faith B. Young, one great grandchild and one great great grandchild.

She is survived by a son, Nelson O. Bond of Earlham; three daughters, Olive Fern Kerns, Lillian M. McAdow and Carol L. Bond, all of Winterset; 12 grandchildren and 36 great great grandchildren.

Officiating at the funeral Monday afternoon were Rev. Byron Ayers and Rev. Scott Grotewold. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
