Native of Hartford, Lived In Madison County for 30 Years
Harry R. Shetterly of Winterset, a resident of Madison County, the last 30 years, died Saturday, Jan. 21, at University hospital in Iowa City. He was 67 years of age.
Mr. Shetterly was born near Hartford, Ia., on March 27, 1893, a son of Samuel A. and Margaret Jane Tidball Shetterly. He was a member of the Presbyterian church in that community. His active life was spent in farming and construction work.
He was married in Des Moines on Aug. 16, 1911 to Edith Bell Cain who survives him. He also leaves three sons, Roland L. Shetterly of the U.S. Naval Air station in Washington state, Henry V. Shetterly of Grundy Center and Charles E. Shetterly of Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Walter B. Kramme of Des Moines and Mrs. Virgil J. Wiggins of Winterset; 16 grandchildren; two brothers, Otis W. Shetterly of Hartford and Everett C. Shetterly of Des Moines; and three sister, Mrs. Edith Switzer of Carlisle, Mrs. Katy Burns of Odessa, Texas and Mrs. Jo Campbell of Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Funeral services were held this Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John C. Porath. Burial was made in the Hartford cemetery.
