Russell Edgington, Winterset

Russell R. Edgington, 79, of Winterset died of cancer Oct. 27, 2000 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Grace Baptist Church in Winterset with Pastor Alex Bauman officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery, with military rites performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8142 and American Legion Post 184, both of Winterset.

Russell Edgington was born April 9, 1921 to Ray and Winnie (Kingery) Edgington of Macksburg. He married Bessie Embree on Aug. 28, 1942, in Grant City, Mo. Russell worked for Montross Pharmacy from 1953 to 1984 when he retired from fulltime employment. However, he continued to work part time at Montross until his recent illness. A veteran of the United States Navy, he also was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Winterset and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8142.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers.

He is survived by a daughter, Permilla Horst (husband Andrew) of Blue Grass; two sons, Russell Embree Edgington (wife Annette) of Waukee and Charles Thomas Edgington of Glendale, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice in Winterset.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
