Henry Wishmier Services Held

Henry C. Wishmier, former resident of Madison County and a Van Meter native, died December 8 at Homelake, Colorado. He was 81 years of age.

Mr. Wishmier was born at Van Meter on December 22, 1891, the son of Carl and Henrietta Bernau Wishmier. He was married to Leona Scarborough on May 23, 1923.

Mr. Wishmier spent part of his early life in Minneapolis, Minnesota and in Rockford, Illinois, but returned to Van Meter and Jefferson Townsip, where he farmed until his retirement.

He was a life-long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church near Van Meter. A veteran of World War I, he was also a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Wishmier was a former director of the Madison County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) office.

Survivors include a son, Jack Wishmier of Denver, Colorado and two sisters, Mrs. Leona Marquardt and Mrs. Eveline Ziemann, both of Van Meter. Five grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 1973, with the Rev. E. A. Breiholz officiating. Burial was made at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
