1966OTTO WISHMIER OF VAN METER DIES
Life-Long Farmer in That Community Was 81 Years Of Age
Otto Wishmier, a lifelong resident of Jefferson township and member of a well-known family in that community, died Sunday, March 27, at the Dexter hospital where he had been a patient since March 4. He was 81 years of age.
Mr. Wishmier was a son of Charles and Henrietta Bernau Wishmier. He was born in Jefferson township Nov. 6, 1884.
He was married Aug. 28, 1918, to Alice M. Thomassen of Pella. She preceded him in death in 1948.
Mr. Wishmier's life was spent in farming in Jefferson township. He was active in the affairs of his community and was serving as township clerk at the time of his death. He was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran church near Van Meter. At the time of his death he had held continuous membership in the congregation longer than any other living at that time.
Surviving are three daughters, Florence Haasl of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Orma Schafer of Dexter; (only two listed in obit) a brother, Henry Wishmier of Van Meter; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Marquardt and Mrs. Eveline Ziemann, both of Van Meter; 14 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
