Elizabeth Hannon Dies In Winterset

Well-Known Resident of Zion Community Was 76 Years Old

Mrs. Elizabeth Hannon, long-time resident of the Zion community in Adair county, died at Winterset Saturday, Nov. 19. She was 76 years of age.

Mrs. Hannon was born in Madison county June 17, 1878, and spent her early life here. She was a daughter of William and Mary King. She moved with her parents to Adair county, where she taught school for two years. She was married July 30, 1895 to Charles L. Hannon. They were the parents of four children. Her husband preceded her in death.

She had been an active worker in the Hill of Zion Christian church since youth, and was also a member of Eastern Star.

She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Maase of Champaign, Ill.; three sons, Delbert of Morristown, Minn., Lloyd of Atlantic, and Donald of Winterset; a brother, Walter King of Bonesteel, S. Dak.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Hill of Zion church Tuesday in charge of the Rev. W. Jay Hazel. Burial was made in the cemetery there.
